Episode #54 – Again, sorry for being a week behind.

Thought you’d like to know about a discussion at the beginning of NPR’s “Tell Me More” show this past Monday. The transcript is available, but it’s still interesting to listen to the two guests being interviewed about Pope Francis’ popularity in the media so far.

The one guest brushes off the host’s concerns about the priests doing child molestation, as if that’s a closed topic, but goes on at length about how the RCC should be leading all religions in relieving human suffering in the world.

It’s amazing how thoroughly the two guests have their blinders on, unable to see the harm their church has done. Both guests totally miss the point that Francis has done a lot of talking and posturing, but hasn’t substantially changed anything.

    • Cephus says:

That’s something we’re going to be addressing in a news story in show #56 (what should have been show #55), but I agree with you, lots of Catholics do have theological blinders on, they can’t see where the real problems lie, they just have faith in their Church and nothing can ever get in the way of it. Francis, for as much of a media darling as he is, hasn’t actually done anything to solve the problems, he just talks a good game.
